A Weekend in the Trees
As an early birthday present for Andrew, I decided to surprise him with a weekend stay in a beautiful treehouse at TreeHouse Point in Issaquah, Washington. I had this idea for months and was able to book a couple days in the trees for the two of us.
TreeHouse Point is located just 30 minutes outside of Seattle and was created by Pete Nelson, who some may know from Animal Planet’s Treehouse Masters. Not only do they offer six treehouses you can stay in, they also offer guided tours and event space. It’s like a magical forest getaway not too far from the city.
For a March weekend, I booked our stay in late January. TreeHouse Point opens up their weekends 60 days in advance, so I had to be on top of it. Leading up to the day we left, Andrew had no idea where we were going. It wasn’t until we were pulling into the parking lot and he saw the sign that said “TreeHouse Point” did he know. And boy, was he surprised!
We arrived early in the check-in time frame and that allowed us to not only get settled into our treehouse, Bonbibi, but also take some time to look around the grounds. There are five other ones, in addition to our’s, and we couldn’t help but marvel at all of them. We relaxed for the rest of the day, grabbed a bite to eat at The Roadhouse (which some Twin Peaks fans may recognize), and played a few rounds of dominoes before falling asleep to the sound of the river nearby.
An amazing amenity TreeHouse Point provides is homemade breakfast courtesy of their chefs. Andrew and I were the first ones there Saturday morning and easily filled up on apple crisp, an egg bake, fruit, blueberry crumble, and yogurt with homemade granola and lemon curd. Safe to say it was one of the best breakfasts we’ve had when away for a weekend. Breakfast was also a great time for us to meet some of the other guests who were staying there.
Afterwards, Andrew and I headed to Twin Falls for a 2.5 mile hike. We were treated to amazing views, a stunning waterfall, and plenty of dogs on the trail! We then swung by Snoqulamie Falls really quickly before heading back to Bonbibi for some more relaxation time. We read on our deck, took a nap, and just enjoyed being in the trees. We also took some of the snacks we brought along down to the Raging River for a little picnic. After grabbing dinner at Snoqualmie Brewery and Taproom, we enjoyed roasting s’mores by the fire pit and chatting with other guests well into the evening. It was so relaxing and I could not have pictured a more perfect evening in the woods.
Sunday morning was bittersweet because we just did not want to leave. Andrew and I enjoyed the homemade breakfast yet again, then joined the other guests checking out all the other treehouses. The staff at TreeHouse Point recommend getting to know your neighbors so that you have the opportunity to see each space, which is really nice. We could see all the details and differences from the one we stayed in.
Overall, we both enjoyed our weekend in the trees. Not only was I happy to pull off this early birthday surprise for Andrew, but I enjoyed being able to go somewhere new and experience something I had never done before. Bonbibi was such a perfect treehouse for us. It was cozy and warm, with water, tea, towels, chocolates, and games right there ready if we wanted to use them. Crossing my fingers we’ll be able to visit again someday!
