This month has flown by and we’re gearing up for the end of the year! How?! Oh well, like every month, I must let go of the ever impending sense that time is flying by quicker than I would like and blog about what I’ve been loving! So here we go, buckle up, keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the vehicle at all times, and read away!

A Star is Born

LADY! GAGA! IS! A! STAR! The moment the trailer for A Star is Born came out, I have been impatiently waiting for it to hit theaters. So of course, opening night, Andrew and I bought tickets and sat through two hours and 14 minutes of pure amazingness. Bradley Cooper delivered such a fantastic directorial debut and like I said, Lady Gaga is a star! The two of them together had such strong chemistry and I loved it so much, I saw it for a second time with my mom. I’m predicting big Oscar nominations for this one.

Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel

It is no secret that I looooovvvveeeee Dear Evan Hansen. The award-winning musical, starring Ben Platt, has been on repeat in my car, on my phone, in my head, for a good chunk of this year. Due to its success, a novel was released, giving more life to the characters and story. The author and musical writers embarked on a book tour to promote the novel as well as perform songs and interact with fans. I was lucky enough to go see them when they came to Seattle and it was a wonderful sneak peek for when I see the show early next year!

Washington Park Arboretum

Living so close to Seattle, I have known about the Washington Park Arboretum for most of my life. The 230 acres of plant life is nestled in the city, not far from the University of Washington. Even though I’ve lived in this area my whole life, I had never visited the Arboretum and on a brisk, fall morning, Andrew and I decided to explore and walk around. We were met with beautiful views of changing leaves and numerous trails that allow for hours of exploration.

Tip: Bring comfortable walking shoes because some trails are gravel and I would hate to see somebody twist an ankle like the woman I saw wearing heels.

Halloween activities

Fall is my favorite season and I love being able to participate in so many seasonal activities this time of the year! Of course I visited a pumpkin patch and did some carving. I also went to a corn maze with friends and did my fair share of getting lost. I’ve also watched Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin and Hocus Pocus about six times.

My Halloween costume

I’m notorious for planning in advance. My birthday? I start thinking about that in October. Trips? I’m thinking about those year round. Halloween? I start brainstorming costumes in the spring. This year was no different. I’ve been brainstorming costume ideas for a long time now and was so happy when I finally settled on an idea for Andrew and I. This year, we dressed up as Bugs and Lola Bunny from Space Jam. Boy oh boy was I excited for this one! While I know many couples have done this costume before, I had never personally seen it done and thought it was different enough to stand out. I also knew that 99% of people would get what we were dressed as.

All that we really needed were Tune Squad shirts, which I bought through WalMart, and bunny ears, that we got from Amazon. The rest was easy to assemble. White shorts, white headbands, and gray hoodies, that’s it. It was a simple, but effective outfit. And let me tell you, getting to wear sneakers out to the bars instead of heels or boots, definitely a plus!

My new apartment

One of the best things to happen in October was that I moved out! I moved out of my parents’ house and into my own apartment! I’ve been excited about this new start for a while and thankfully had so much support on my moving day. I am now a lot closer to work, so my commute went from an hour to 20 minutes! I’m also about 90% done with my unpacking and that feels good.

I’m so incredibly grateful that my parents let me live with them when I graduated from college, but I’m excited for this next chapter and home!

What were you loving in October?
