September Favorites // 2017

Happy October everyone! I cannot believe that we’re already into autumn, thus meaning we are almost through with 2017. As we embark into a new season, I decided that I would start a new “series” on my blog where each month I document some of my favorites. From music to beauty to fashion to random little items, I want to expand on some things that I’ve been obsessing over in each month. So, to start this all off, here are my favorites from September!

CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion

Usually when the seasons change, mainly around fall and spring, my skin is not a happy camper. When the weather changes, my skin has a hard time adjusting and tends to get very dry and flakey.  And those are two adjectives I’d prefer not to associate with my face.  This year I’ve been using CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM to moisturize and calm some of my irritation. I apply a small half-a-penny size of lotion to dry areas on my face, then will reapply a few hours later if need be. A 3oz. bottle of CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion can be found at your local Target, Walgreens, or WalMart.

Fall Out Boy

I’ve been a Fall Out Boy fan since way back in my middle and high school years, even seeing them in concert a few times.  I used to watch their music videos on MTV (back when MTV actually showed music videos) and would load my iPod up with their songs. I jumped back on the Fall Out Boy train after their hiatus when they released Save Rock and Roll during my freshman year of college.  And now, they’re leading up to the release of their new album Mania and I am absolutely hooked! I’ve had their songs “Young and Menace” and “The Last of the Real Ones” on repeat and I’ve been diggin’ this sound from them. They’re incorporating some more electronic sounds to their melodies which is a cool edition and their lyrics are still as powerful and catchy as ever.  I’ve also revisited their Greatest Hits album because sometimes you just need to belt “Sugar, We’re Going Down” on your way to work in the morning.

Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray

With this ‘ole thick head of hair of mine, styling my hair can sometimes be difficult. Sometimes when I straighten my hair, it ends up curling, and sometimes when I curl it, my hair ends up straightening. Basically it has a mind of its own and I am at its mercy. I have learned over the years to just work with what I wake up with which is usually a mane of waves. But every once in a while, I want a little more style to what I’m working with and lately that’s meant some time spent with my curling iron. Thankfully, I have also found a hairspray that has been able to hold my curls together without making my hair feel incredibly crunchy and gross.  After curling my hair, I’ll usually have some tight ringlets. They’re what I like to call “curly fry curls”. I do a couple hair flips and lightly rake my fingers through the curls to loosen them up. Once my curls have more of a wave to them and are styled how I would like, I use Aussie’s Instant Freeze Hairspray with 24 Hour Extreme Hold to keep it all together. I always do a test spray first away from myself before doing a quick application around my whole head. I’ll then do a couple more hair flips and then I’m good to go! A 10oz. bottle of Aussie Instant Freeze Hairspray can be found at your local Target, WalMart, or CVS.

Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil

Growing up, when I was starting to discover makeup, my eyebrows were not my main focus. They weren’t even on my list of focuses. It took me into high school to start plucking them and actually paying attention to them in general. So it’s no surprise that it took me till this last year to start using an eyebrow pencil. I’ve gone through a few different colors before settling on the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel 002. I had started with a pencil that had more red tints to it, but that looked too deep against my redhead skin tone. I then tried a more blonde color, but it was so light that you couldn’t see any of it. I then found this hazel color that’s the perfect balance. I’m able to emphasize the shape of my eyebrow better without the color being a distraction or harsh against my skin tone. The end brush on the pencil allows me to smooth down any wonky eyebrow hairs as well.  The Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel 002 can be found at your local Target, Ulta, or CVS.
