Five Instagrammable San Diego Spots // Balboa Park
Towards the end of 2019, Andrew and I decided to escape the Washington cold for a sunny San Diego vacation. The first place we visited was Balboa Park and we immediately loved it. Now, years later and with California residency, Balboa Park is still one of my favorite places in the city. There are so many things to do - museums, picnics, outdoor music, you name it - and so many Instagrammable spots throughout the park. So, to celebrate one of my go-to San Diego places, I’m sharing five Insta-worthy locations in Balboa Park!

1. Fountain outside Prado Restaurant
Right outside the Prado restaurant is a small courtyard and fountain that’s tucked away enough to not attract a lot of people. You can snap a few pictures without worrying about people accidentally photobombing you.
2. Spanish Village Art Center
When Andrew and I first visited San Diego in 2019, one of the first places we went to was the Spanish Village Art Center. And to this day, it’s one of my favorite Balboa spots. The colorful ground, the eclectic shops, and the overhanging trees are absolutely photo-worthy.
3. Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden
Just across the street from the main section of Balboa Park is the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden. When the roses are in bloom, you can spend a good chunk of time just wandering around looking at all the different rose names. Or, snap a few pictures!
4. Balboa Park Lily Pond
The lily pond is a classic Balboa Park photo spot. So much so, that we took some of our engagement photos right by it!
5. Japanese Friendship Garden
One of the other gardens at Balboa Park, the Japanese Friendship Garden, is a must-visit. Featuring stone arrangements, multiple koa ponds, and plenty of Instagrammable locations, you’re guaranteed a good photo.
