June Favorites // 2018
Another month down! June was busy, busy, busy, but I managed to sprinkle in some fun activities for myself. This last month has seen many changes in my life and many moments that have me reflecting on what a great year it's been so far.
Without further ado, here are my favorites from this last month!
Camping and the Coast
This last month, I took my first camping trip down the Washington and Oregon coast with my boyfriend and I had a great time! As somebody who had never slept outdoors in a tent, I was a smidge apprehensive about spending the weekend doing just that. But the overall experience was so fun! We went to many different attractions, landmarks, and cities, and spent our evenings cooking hot dogs over the fire and making s'mores. It felt nice to get out of my comfort zone and spend a weekend doing something new with somebody so special to me.
If you haven't seen my latest Getaway Series post where I talk about our camping trip, you can check it out here.
MoviePass
Fun fact about me, I love going to the movies. The whole experience of going to a movie theater, I'm all about it. So when I found out about MoviePass, I thought it would be perfect for me!
MoviePass is a subscription-based movie ticketing service, so I pay a flat fee each month to see up to one movie a day. I can't see a movie more than once and I have to check in using an app on my phone, so it's reasonable and easy to use. With the insane amount that movie tickets are sold for nowadays, paying roughly $10 a month to see as many movies as I want is the best deal.
Since I've purchased my MoviePass in April, I've seen eight movies, so it's already paid for itself.
Pride
June was Pride Month and on June 24th, Seattle celebrating by putting on their annual Pride Parade. I had never been to the Seattle Pride Parade before, but had always heard great things about how inclusive people were and the energy of the crowd.
This year, I got to be a part of the Parade! My work partnered with another Seattle company to be a part of the Seattle Pride Parade so I got to participate by following our vehicle and getting content for social media. While walking down the entire route, people were smiling, cheering, and just having an overall amazing time. I was happy I got to go not only for work, but as an LGBTQ ally. It was such a joy to be a part of an event where people could be their authentic selves and just enjoy the moment together.
Space Needle Renovations
When you think of Seattle landmarks, the Space Needle is probably at the top of everybody's list. Last year, the Space Needle started undergoing renovations to focus on preservation and updating the structure's system and appeal. I had the opportunity to go up to the top and see some of the updates myself!
On the observation deck, where there was once wires somewhat blocking the view, are now 2 inch glass panels that give you an unobstructed 360 view of the city. As somebody who is not the biggest fan of heights, I was pretty shakey when I was told I could lean directly back against the panels and the glass benches. The restaurant and third level are also undergoing renovations and the whole operation should be complete by September.
