May Favorites // 2018
Well hello blog! Haven't seen you in a month!
As it does sometimes, life got in the way this last month. May was pretty busy, filled with baseball games, job applications, movies, good food, unpredictable weather, launch parties, and some light traveling. With all of that, blog posts kind of slipped through the cracks. But, it's the end of the month and I knew that I couldn't miss my monthly favorites! Here's what I was loving in May!
Seattle
I have been spending a good amount of time in Seattle throughout the month of May. I already spend a substantial chunk of time in the city thanks to work, but in my free time, I still find myself here. Not only is Seattle visually beautiful -- I mean c'mon, look at that skyline -- but there's also so much to do around town. On a sunny day you can lay out at Gasworks Park enjoying the view. If you're feeling touristy, you can wander around Pike Place Market and take in all the vendors. Space Needle, Monorail, Smith Tower, there are so many sights to see, and those are just the more well-known ones. There are plenty more hidden gems! I grew up just outside of Seattle so I came into town a lot growing up, but at 24-years-old, I'm still finding so much I love and have never seen in this city.
Lunchbox Laboratory
This spring, I joined a softball team that played games at fields in Greenlake. Every Sunday I would scour the streets for a parking spot before gathering my stuff to walk to the field. Almost every time, I would walk past a restaurant called Lunchbox Laboratory. So one day when I didn't have any plans, I took a solo trip to the restaurant and had such an amazing lunch. I ordered a burger called the Cluck Norris, tater tots, and a peanut butter shake. I have to say, it rocked my world. Since then, I returned with one of my friends and now I'm hooked. If you're looking for some good quality comfort food on your cheat day, Lunchbox Laboratory is definitely the place to be.
P.S. Look at that cute little piece of lettuce just hanging out on my bun!
Floral dresses
I'm a pretty picky shopper. I rarely branch out from the styles and colors I already know I like. But during my last shopping trip to Target, I found myself with an armful of cute dresses to try on. Unfortunately, I kept striking out when I tried each one on, not feeling like they fit me well or were flattering on my body. I was already on the fence about the last dress, pushing myself to try on something new and at least give the dress a try. But when I put it on, I was amazed by how well the dress fit me and how well it fit my body. Since then, it's been my favorite in my closet. It's floral pattern is not a pattern I would usually go for, but there's a softness to it that's not so overwhelmingly flowery and it's a great number for springtime. The asymmetrical hem brings an uniqueness to the dress and the material hugs my body in a way that's flattering but not trashy. It also serves as the perfect wedding guest dress!
I was unable to find this number on Target's website, but here are equally cute floral dresses from their store that are perfect for spring!
