May Favorites // 2019

Do you feel that? Feels like summer is almost upon us! May came and went, providing us with a sneak peek at the next season to come while also reminding us that some of those April showers may carry over. May was a busy, busy month for me (did I mention I traveled abroad?) and every single weekend was filled up for me. So it’s safe to say I have plenty to recap of what I was loving this month!

Scotland

While I loved my entire trip to Europe with my parents as a whole, I truly loved our time in Scotland. We stayed in Edinburgh and had a breathtaking view of the Edinburgh Castle from our hotel room. I loved walking the historic streets and wandering around Holyrood Palace. We were treated to a Scottish show and dinner, and I saw countless sheep grazing on the countryside. I could definitely see myself returning.

If you haven’t read my Europe blog post, you can see it here and while you’re at it, check out my Europe video here!

Odesza

Back in 2016, I had the opportunity to meet Odesza, an electronic music duo, at a Western alumni event (see above). Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight were being honored for their achievements and were receiving the Young Alumni Award. I was seated at their table. They were beyond nice, and it was really inspiring to meet two people who had accomplished so much and came from the same college as me.

Three years later, Odesza announced that they were teaming up with Death Cab for Cutie, another successful group that hails from Western, for one of the biggest events Bellingham has ever seen. Their show Double Major raised money for Western scholarships and was held during Alumni Weekend. Andrew and I drove up that day, returning to my alma mater, to see these two groups absolutely crush it and deliver a fantastic evening worth of music. There’s something magical about being in a crowd of music lovers and all jamming out, without a care in the world.

Stitch Fix

For my birthday, Andrew blew me away and gave me a gift for every day of my birthday week. On my actual birthday, my gift was a gift card for Stitch Fix.

As a 25-year-old, I sometimes feel like I’m stuck in this weird middle where I’m not a teenager so I shouldn’t be shopping in the junior department, but I’m not quite a full-fledged adult where my wardrobe consists of business attire and conservative pieces. I have no idea what I’m doing anymore when it comes to shopping, so having somebody else pick pieces for me felt like a huge help.

I started by filling out the style guide online where I got to put in my measurements, preferences, and give my stylist an idea of what I was hoping for.

I received my first box last week and it was so exciting to open it and see what was picked out for me. I received three tops, a pair of jeans, and a purse. A style guide also came with it with recommendations on how to style each piece. I tried on each piece and the ones that I didn’t like as much, I sent back. Easy as that!

San Francisco

For Memorial Day weekend, Andrew and I decided to drive down the coast and spend a few days in San Francisco! I’ve loved San Francisco for awhile and was hoping to making it down there this year. We left Friday evening and took turns driving throughout the night. We arrived around 8:30am Saturday morning. We started our day at Mission Dolores Park and were treated to a sunny view of the city skyline. We then took a last minute trip to Fort Point which is situated right underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. We were treated to amazing views and some history. A nap was squeezed into our schedule before we ended our day with dinner in Chinatown and walking around Union Square.

Sunday started out with a trip to the Ferry Building before we walked over to Oracle Park for a Giants game! As a fan, I was excited to be there for Bruce Bochy’s last season as coach of the team. Even though the Giants lost, I still enjoyed myself! Andrew and I then went to Ghiradelli to stock up on chocolate then visited Lombard Street, something Andrew had never done before. In such a short period of time, the two of us managed to fit a lot in. We left for Seattle Monday morning, making a quick stop in Oregon to have dinner with his brother and sister-in-law.

What were you loving in May?
