November Favorites // 2018
Can you hear that? I think that’s 2019 knocking on our door. This year has come and almost gone, with November zooming right on by. Maybe it’s because my month was full of activities galore, but this year is quickly ticking on by. But, like always, I’m here to share my favorites from this last month!
Baking
Autumn/Winter time is my favorite time to bust out my baking skills! Thanksgiving and Christmas are two holidays that lend themselves well to baked goods and I feel like this year I’m really finding my footing in that arena. I love creating something that my friends and family can enjoy, while sneaking in a few tastes for myself.
If you haven’t yet, check out my apple crisp recipe and autumn dessert treats. Maybe I’ll share some more desserts soon that are more tailored to the winter season!
Thanksgiving
Obviously! Sometimes this wonderful holiday gets somewhat forgotten about, sandwiched in between Halloween and Christmas, but that doesn’t mean Thanksgiving doesn’t deserve our love! This year, with Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving under my belt, my pants were fitting a little tighter and leftovers filled up my fridge. I’m lucky to have had my family and Andrew around the table this year and this holiday is a chance for me to really reflect on how thankful I am to have such amazing people in my life.
P.S. This turkey above is the one that I cooked for Friendsgiving! Look at that bad boy!
In The Heights
Musical buffs will know that Hamilton was not Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first brush with a Broadway masterpiece. He wrote the show In The Heights while he was still in college and after many revisions, collaborations, and a stint off-Broadway, the show eventually made its way to Broadway where it was met with praise and accolades, 13 Tony nominations to be exact. In The Heights really put Lin-Manuel Miranda on the map, his show about three days in the Washington Heights neighborhood and its occupants showing his immense talent. I was a fan of the show before Hamilton swept everybody off their feet and I was incredibly excited when the Seattle Repertory Theatre announced it was going to have a run in Seattle. My mom, gramma, and I were able to get tickets and had an amazing time. The music is so catchy, the characters are so engaging, and the whole story is much deserving of all the awards.
In The Heights is playing at the Seattle Repertory Theatre till December 30th and I highly recommend going to see it if you can!
Holiday Festivities
I absolutely love Seattle around the holidays. The air is crisp, the trees are covered in lights, and everything just feels purely magical. Every year, my parents and I spend a day in the city and enjoy some of the festivities, including the Westlake Carousel and the Gingerbread Village at the Sheraton Hotel. If you’re in the PNW and looking for some inexpensive, fun holiday activities, check out my latest blog post for some ideas!
